Trasco, a German tuning company, has become a household name in the world of luxury vehicles. Founded in 1977 by Horst Trasberg, a former Mercedes-Benz mechanic, Trasco s
tarted its journey in the town of Traunreut, Germany. The company’s main goal was to create high-performance luxury cars. They quickly made a name for themselves by producing top-notch vehicles that stood out in the industry.

Trasco mainly focused on armored vehicles and high-performance versions of classic Mercedes-Benz models. One of their most iconic creations is the 1000SEL, which was a high-performance armored version of the Mercedes-Benz W126 S-Class. This car boasted features like bulletproof glass, armored steel plating, and run-flat tires, making it the epitome of luxury and security. The 1000SEL was powered by a modified version of the M117 V8 engine, which was enlarged to 6.0 liters and fitted with custom pistons, camshafts, and an exhaust system, producing over 400 horsepower. The car also had a reinforced transmission and upgraded suspension, brakes, and wheels.

Trasco didn’t stop at armored vehicles, though; they also produced high-performance versions of the Mercedes-Benz W116, W124, and W140 models, as well as armored versions of the W124 and W210. The company also specialized in creating luxury limousines for high-profile clients, including heads of state and celebrities.

Trasco’s modifications to the 1000SEL were not limited to performance upgrades. The car also featured a full leather interior, wood trim, and a high-end sound system. Moreover, the car was available with optional features like a built-in safe and a communication system that allowed passengers to speak with people outside the car without opening the windows.

The Trasco 1000SEL was a truly remarkable car that combined luxury, performance, and security in a way that was unmatched at the time. Even today, it remains a highly sought-after collector’s item, and its reputation as one of the most exclusive, high-performance armored cars ever produced is well-deserved.

Although Trasco has gone through some mergers and takeovers over the years, the company’s name still lives on in the world of luxury vehicles. It is unclear whether the original company is still in business or not but one thing is certain: Trasco’s legacy will continue to inspire car enthusiasts for years to come.
