In 1994, Mercedes-Benz released a rare gem: the limited-edition version of its popular W124 E-Class, called the W124 E500 Limited. This model was produced for only one year and was based on the facelifted version of the W124 E-Class.

The limited-edition W124 E500 featured a 5.0-liter V8 engine, producing 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, which was mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

However, the E500 Limited isn’t just about raw power. This limited-edition model included a host of upgrades to its suspension and braking systems. With stiffer suspension components, larger sway bars, and a lower ride height, the car offered improved handling and reduced body roll. With its larger brake discs and four-piston calipers, it provided improved stopping power and reduced brake fade. It made you feel as though the car was giving you a big hug, saying, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this.”

The limited-edition car also featured a unique body kit that gave the car a more aggressive and sporty look. With a front spoiler, side skirts, and a rear diffuser, this limited-edition model was bound to catch the eye of onlookers on the road.

Inside, the limited edition was a thing of beauty. Available with a choice of three stunning interior color options. The first option was a combination of red leather and Alcantara with wood trim accents, while the second option was a combination of green leather and Alcantara with wood trim accents. The third option was a combination of gray leather and Alcantara with carbon fiber trim accents.

The limited-edition model also had Recaro-style sport seats with additional bolstering and lumbar support, upholstered in the same color combination as the interior options. Additionally, the steering wheel and shift knob were covered in matching leather or Alcantara.

Only 500 units of the W124 E500 Limited were produced worldwide, making it technically more rare than the W201 Evolution models. The Limited may not have been a massive departure from the standard E500, but with its unique features and limited production numbers, it remains a true collector’s dream car.
